Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is shutting down, but a premium version “with no in-app purchases” is on the way


Nintendo has confirmed it is shutting down Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp At the end of the year, the focus will be on a “paid version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp”, which will be released “in the future”.

The current free version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp – which has been running for seven years – will shut down at 3pm UK time on 28 November 2024. In a statement, the developer/publisher said it would share more details about the premium game in October 2024, and thanked players for their “patience and understanding”.

Nintendo has confirmed that in-game events and item distribution will “continue until service ends”, though in-game Leaf Ticket sales will stop “shortly before” the servers are shut down.

Starting October 28, you will no longer be able to purchase a new Pocket Camp subscription, and any existing subscriptions will not be renewed. Players are advised to use up all of their Leaf Tickets before the game shuts down.

Players who would like to try out the new premium game will be able to transfer their save data (though not Leaf Tickets), and the new Animal Crossing game will not require a constant internet connection, nor will it “include any in-app purchases.”

“We’d like to thank everyone who has supported the game since its launch,” Nintendo said.

It is the fifth mobile game that Nintendo has discontinued. Mario Kart Tour will close in 2023Dragalia Lost in 2022 and Dr. Mario World in 2021. Miitomo It too was discontinued in 2018, just two years after its launch.
