EA’s top executives earned $60 million in fiscal year 2024, despite the company laying off hundreds of workers.
Notably, CEO Andrew Wilson himself earned nearly half the amount — $25.6 million — and was praised for accomplishing “key strategic and operational objectives.”
Those objectives include reorganizing the business into EA Entertainment and EA Sports; “optimizing our portfolio, investments and resources in support of our strategic priorities and growth initiatives” as part of the restructuring plan; advancing the company’s “long-term strategic plan, which is focused on driving sustainable growth, strong cash flow and shareholder returns”; and overseeing “continued years of employee satisfaction scores above industry benchmarks”, including “record high talent retention”.
These numbers come courtesy of the annual proxy statement, which details the compensation of EA executives, as seen here Game Maker,
Breaking it down, Wilson made $1.3 million from his base salary, plus over $20 million from stock awards, a little less than $3.5 million from a non-equity incentive plan, and $500k from “other” compensation. That total was about $5 million more than in 2023 and 2022.
In addition, Laura Miele, president, technology and central development, EA Entertainment, earned a total of $12 million for, among other accomplishments, leading EA Entertainment and overseeing the launch of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Meanwhile, CFO Stuart Canfield earned a total of $6.5 million, among others.
At the very least, it’s a clear indication of the amount of money earned at the top level of the games industry.
In contrast, the average employee earned compensation of $148,704, meaning Wilson made 172 times more than the average EA employee.
