Final Fantasy 14’s patch 7.0 notes reveal what to expect from Dawntrail ahead of early access launch

Square Enix has released Full patch notes for patch 7.0Ahead of Dawntrail’s early access launch later this week.

The notes detail what additions and changes players can expect from the new expansion. Most of these include well-known and expected changes like the level cap increase and new quests, as well as a look at new locations and duties. If you want to avoid spoilers, you can skip the notes.

However, there are also some small but welcome changes to take note of, with graphical updates bringing visual changes as well.

First, though, it should be noted that Final Fantasy 14 will not be available from June 26 to 27 as maintenance is being performed across all worlds in preparation for Dawntrail. These patch notes explain what will be implemented.

As has been widely reported since the announcement Las Vegas Fan FestPatch 7.0 will introduce a graphical update that is applied to all of Dawntrail’s content, with similar updates coming to older content in future updates. The update includes improved textures and lighting, as well as other more subtle effects and changes.

In the patch notes, some slider images show improved textures – it looks like wearing glasses after blurry vision. This update aims to future-proof the game for years to come.

To ensure players are happy with the graphical changes made to their characters, everyone will get a free Fantasia item with which they can edit their character. However, players will now have up to 60 minutes of in-game time in which they can re-edit their character if they change their mind after seeing their character in action.

In addition, the patch will add new hairstyles, the ability to combine two colors when coloring gear, and a separate option for facewear – so you can now wear goggles and a helmet at the same time.

Two other changes are very welcome. The first, as already mentioned in the producer’s live letter but worth repeating, is that other players in the vicinity of the explorer can be temporarily hidden – a big change considering the high number of players expected for Dawntrail’s launch.

Secondly, quest objectives that require following an NPC now have visual indicators that help avoid detection. Endwalker introduced a number of such stealth missions, but they sometimes proved frustrating.

Other minor changes include: the ability to use the DualSense Edge controller on Windows; unlocking trophies and achievements from games on other platforms; and the addition of a mute list and term filters for improved security.

And, most importantly, there’s now a new adorable llama mount, too.

Finally, Notes Reiterating measures temporarily implemented to reduce server congestionRestricting travel between certain worlds and data centers; automatic logout after 30 minutes of inactivity; and splitting new regions into multiple instances.

Dawntrail will release in Early Access this Friday, June 28, while the full launch will take place on July 2. pushed back a week due to the release of Elden Ring DLC The Shadow of Erdtree.

I played one Dontrail preview version last month and described it as Final Fantasy 14’s “most colorful look”.
