Flipper Zero 1.0 firmware update supercharges hacking handhelds

One of our favorite hacking gadgets, Flipper Zeroreceived its first major firmware update today. It includes many features that developers have been working on for the past three years, including a Big increase in battery life which technically came with the previous update. While many of the features aren’t technically new, the whole package should make this gadget feel like a supercharged version of its older form.

One of the most notable updates since launch solves one of developers’ biggest problems: the device’s internal flash memory fundamentally limits how many features they can add. In the past, new features were built into the firmware itself, but eventually they would exceed the memory’s capacity. Last year, App Store added to device And lets you run new apps from a microSD card.

JavaScript is now supported, so coding your own apps can be easier. The NFC subsystem has been rewritten, supports more card types, and can read cards faster. Data transfers via Bluetooth with Android devices are also faster, and firmware update speeds have increased by 40 percent, according to the developers.

The new firmware includes a lot more IR ProtocolSo if you already use Flipper Zero as a universal remote control, you can now use it with more TVs, ACs, audio systems, and projectors. If you need a longer transmission range, Flipper Zero also supports external infrared modules. Here’s an explanatory video:
