Ghost of Tsushima VR is now a real thing thanks to this new mod

Master modder Luke Ross has released another update for his REAL VR mod, and for the first time in several years it’s not for a Ubisoft game!

On this week’s VR Corner, I take a look at Luke’s flat-screen VR mod for Sucker Punch’s stunningly beautiful Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC. The video shows off parts of the first 90 minutes of the game, showcasing some graphically stunning moments, like riding a horse through a shower of flaming arrows and a one-on-one fight in a field full of bright red leaves.

Like all of Luke’s Real VR mods, it’s controlled with a gamepad, but just like the Flat games, it’s only played from a third-person perspective. This is something that annoyed a lot of people when I demoed his Flat to VR mod for Watch Dogs, but honestly I don’t have a problem with any of it. I love having the option to experience these games with 6DoF visuals, but I have to say that it did introduce a lot of weird artifacting and asset jittering which seems to be an unfortunate side effect. Alternative Eye Rendering 2.0 technology Which is used by their mods.

There might not seem like much here, but the way these red leaves dance, spin and float towards the camera in 6DoF VR looks amazing. It’s a shame then that Jin’s sword shakes so wildly when you move.

If you want to try Luke Ross’ Ghost of Tsushima VR mod yourself, you’ll have to shell out the price for a Patreon subscription. In Luke’s case it’s £8.50 a month, but that lets you mod twenty-four other games too, and you can find out what those games actually are, Here.
