Kid-focused gaming platform Roblox is increasing its strategic focus on the fast-growing Indian market. In the first quarter, Roblox records significant 58% year-over-year growth in daily active users (DAUs) in IndiaThis was surpassed by other major markets such as Japan, which saw a 50% increase. Overall, the platform achieved over 77 million DAUs globally, which represents a 17% increase over the previous year.
This confirms recent industry trends indicating that games that build catalogues of tools for user-generated content are rapidly gaining momentum. Titles such as Super Dungeon Maker for Nintendo Switch, the browser-based Dot Big Bang and Fortnite’s Creator Mode are attracting the attention of young gamers who want to build their own adventures without having to deal with complex game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine. Still, amid the competition for this lucrative market, Roblox stands out as the dominant force.
