Meta is testing a feature for itself Quest Headset which allows you to freely position the windows, Apple Vision ProMultitasking with multiple windows has been part of Meta Horizon OS (formerly Meta Quest OS) for the past few yearsBut currently, it only supports docking three virtual windows in a side-by-side layout.
This brings the Quest 3 one step closer to Apple’s spatial computing, particularly when used in mixed reality mode, but from the video it seems like it doesn’t work exactly like that. You can independently move up to three windows from 2D apps – like the browser or OS windows like your library and settings – around your space and keep the other three docked.
Other demos The suggestion is that windows will only remember their position within a limited distance and will return to their default position if you change the orientation or reset the view. We haven’t tested it yet to know the full limits here, but it looks promising.
The update also lets you switch between curved and flat windows, as well as a dimmer that reduces the brightness of the virtual environment when using 2D apps. (The latter doesn’t work for passthrough mode yet.)
Apple Vision Pro allows you to move windows around your space and keep them locked even when you’re moving around and even after you take off the headset. This way, you can place a window next to your refrigerator and another next to the TV in your living room, and then move to and from the windows as if they were real objects.
