Soon after, unhappy Modern Warfare 2 fans expressed their displeasure on the Steam page their disappointment,

In the short video above, Watchful Wolf talks about the fallout that followed the decision to cancel the mod, while also “sharing the reasoning” he believes Activision used to block it.

“Primarily, because of H2M’s growing popularity — and how close it is to the release of Black Ops 6 and what kind of marketing and betas and so on are needed for that — they didn’t want H2M to interfere with potential sales of Black Ops 6,” said Watchful Wolf, emphasizing that this was just their interpretation of the cease and desist letter, rather than Activision’s formal legal position.

“So, with that being said, for those who suggested ‘you should have just made it on BO3’ or something because they allow mod support… well, I don’t think any project, no matter where it is, [would have been permitted] If a new game has gained so much popularity so close to its release.

“I think they would have closed it anyway.”

Watchful Wolf says that they have “given up modding Call of Duty” for now, but they’re open to making zombie maps or small mods here and there on BO3.

Wolf has also quietly confirmed that the mod team is now “going to make their own game”.

Activision is set to release it through multiple updates Ahead of Black Ops 6’s October launch, the company promised to introduce a streamlined interface, direct access to the game, more control over downloads, and expanded texture streaming technology to reduce file sizes.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Launches for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and Certain Game Pass tiers On October 25th.
