More evidence of a “full-fledged Half-Life game” revealed by Valve dataminer

After yesterday’s shocking news Valve can A new Half-Life game is being developedValve expert Tyler McVicker has come forward and said he also believes this to be true.

Codenamed “HLX”, McVicker claims that this new game “looks like a completely non-VR Half-Life game, which sounds too good to be true”.

I’ll give some details after the video below, but please be aware that there may be some unknown information about this new game.

The Half-Life 3 leak we’ve been waiting forWatch on YouTube

“Almost everything you’re about to hear is fact, not speculation, and comes straight from Valve’s datamines of recent updates,” McVickers says at the beginning of the video.

“Valve and the team behind Half-Life Alyx have begun pre-production on another single-player title [around the same time as Half-Life Alyx]We learned the codename of that title in 2021: HLX.

“There was debate at the time, and for some years afterwards, as to whether HLX did not actually represent a full-fledged game in development, but might instead represent an engine feature, or even simply a file format for saving games.

“In the meantime, I’m slowly and quietly getting to the bottom of this story. HLX is a misleading story. HLX appears to be a full-blown non-VR Half-Life game, which sounds too good to be true, and something I wanted to be very sure about before going live with this information.”

McVicar says that since “Valve is actively developing multiple titles at Source” – perhaps most notably “Citadel aka Neon Prime aka Deadlock” – he wasn’t sure what HLX was for a while.

“Half-Life Alyx was announced almost five years ago, and it took four years to fully release. And, as it turns out, all of that time has been spent developing the next major single-player title, which is codenamed HLX. And now – due to a mistake by a voice actor on the project – we now know that the internal codename that Valve uses to hide the real project name when casting voice actors is called Project White Sands.”

Interestingly, McVicar points out that, like a lot of studios, Valve uses “very random” codenames, such as “Hot Dog” for Left 4 Dead VR and Left 4 Dead 3, and “Jamiroquai” for Half-Life Alyx. So why this is so obviously linked to the Half-Life series, we’re not sure.

McVicar has since “learned a lot” about the project through datamining. According to “strings” inside the game, for example Dota 2The character you play as “whoever is in HLX” will wear the HEV suit, and go “offworld” where there are “workers”, “storks”, “pentatanks”, “wild man hacks” and “zengorillas, zenjellyfish and zenswoopers”. McVicker believes these things were initially removed from Half-Life Alyx, but “have continued to receive some sort of development according to the most recent update of Valve’s Source 2 projects”.

“Do I think it’s Half-Life 3?” says McVicar. “I have to be very careful answering that question.

“But yes.”

Vickers said: “I think it’s a non-VR, Half-Life game… [in which] You play as a character wearing a HEV suit developed at Valve Software, which has been in development since Half-Life Alyx.”

The actor’s website revealed Project White Sands The information sent to the world last night has already been updated, and the reference has been removed.
