Slack introduces iPhone widget to make work easier

Today, Slack introduced the first four widgets for the iOS version of its mobile app. Three of them are designed for the iPhone’s homescreen, while the fourth can be added to the lockscreen, allowing users to immediately go into the Slack app after unlocking their device.

Homescreen widgets include Catch Up, which shows how many unread messages and mentions a user has without opening the app. It gives a little more detail than the badge on the Slack app icon, and tapping the Catch Up widget takes users directly to a section of the Slack app where they can quickly swipe through conversations they’ve missed.

The other two homescreen widgets streamline Slack status updates. Tapping on the smaller status widget takes users directly to that section of the Slack iOS app, while the larger version offers the same functionality as well as three pre-selected status options: one-hour “Focus” and “Lunch” statuses, as well as a half-hour “Take a Break” status. However, those pre-selected options are not customizable at this time.

Slack has found its way onto all of our devices, making work feel like a nonstop chore. If you really want to bring more work into your life, adding these widgets can take you even further, so every time you open your phone, work is front and center.
