Tim Marchman: What about you, Makenna?
Makenna Kelly: I feel like this folk tale is all in my head, and maybe it’s real, I need to check, but upon entering Jimmy Carter’s office, he saw some UFO files and cried, and he never heard of it again. Didn’t say anything about it.
Tim Marchman: I’m sure I’ve heard this too.
Makenna Kelly: Yes, and I don’t know if it’s real or not. I just tried to do some searching. And thinking about Trump finding out these things, I don’t know if he’ll release them. I would not be optimistic.
Tim Marchman: I don’t believe they are going to release anything because he was already president and did not release related material. I believe that if the secret files were made public it would be revealed that America was engaged in hiding Lee Harvey Oswald and his relations with the Soviet Union out of fear that if it were made public, it could lead to nuclear war. Is. And most of the subsequent cover-up has been just a cover-up. And I believe that the UFO files will show that extraterrestrial biological entities crash-landed in New Mexico in the 1940s and led the U.S. government on a journey of discovery about the nature of the universe, including one of the most famous encounters throughout human history. Including aliens creating religious figures. As guides to instruct humans how not to harm their bodies which are containers for souls that the aliens are collecting for energy. This has been the theory, at least many UFO proponents have been putting forward since the 1980s, and I certainly strongly believe that it is true, perhaps Donald Trump would confirm it. Makenna and David, thank you so much for being here. When we come back, it’s time for our last plot of the week.
Tim Marchman: welcome back Wired Politics LabThis is Conspiracy of the Week, the part of the show where our guests come up with their favorite conspiracy theories and I’ll be the judge in Leah’s place. This week the winner gets to brag about it forever, so I hope you both come up with something good. Makenna, let’s start with you.
Makenna Kelly: Yes, I’m glad you brought up aliens and the JFK assassination because I’m about to complete the trifecta with that. I think one of the conspiracy theories that has had its time in the sky, shall we say, this year, has been chemtrails. These are the trails that planes leave when they fly in the sky, apparently spreading all these chemicals and ruining and poisoning us, when in reality it is just water vapor. With the hurricanes in North Carolina earlier this year, there were conspiracies about chemtrails there. Lawmakers in Tennessee passed a bill related to regulating chemtrails, crazy stuff. But this week, oh my god, I was lost when I saw it. There appeared to be a satirical joke online about a Lufthansa pilot refusing to spray chemtrails on his son while piloting a plane. He apparently took a tough stance and said, “I wouldn’t do it.” And the chemtrail, I guess we could call it the chemtrail community, was really thrilled by it. And it’s not true, it was a joke. Yes.
