There’s a bit of a payoff theme in this week’s trailer. After 10 years in the MCU, Anthony Mackie is finally back in a lead role on the big screen; Ridley Scott’s Over two decades of planning for one the Gladiator The sequel is about to come to fruition; and we’ll finally find out what happens next with the macrodata refinement team Severance.
There’s a lot to watch this week, from big-budget movies to whimsical TV, so let’s begin, naturally, with the MCU.
Captain America: Brave New World
In the trailer Captain America: Brave New WorldThaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) wants Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) to be a part of the US military once again. He’s obviously off on the idea, but he’s forced to jump into the fray after super soldier Isaiah Bradley attacks the president.
Mackie’s first MCU movie as the lead character (and, it seems, the first appearance of the Red Hulk!) will hit theaters on January 14, 2025, so you still have time to check it out The Falcon and the Winter Soldier prior to its debut.
F1
Apple and Warner Bros Expensive new F1 The film won’t hit U.S. theaters until June 27, 2025, but it already has a teaser trailer loaded with racing footage. Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver who has been out of the sport since a bad accident in the 1990s but is persuaded to return to the circuit as a mentor to Joshua Pierce (Damson Idris).
The film looks to be a blast, just like director Joseph Kosinski’s film. Top Gun: Maverick. Not just Pitt and Idris actually driving the car for the film, but most of the filming took place at actual Formula 1 races.
Gladiator II
Ridley Scott’s long-awaited the Gladiator Sequel The first film sees Lucius Verus (Paul Mescal), the nephew of the emperor Commodus, grow up, but he has no memory of his mother Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) – although he does remember the rebellion of Russell Crowe’s Maximus. Now enslaved himself and inspired by Maximus, Lucius joins forces with Macrinus (Denzel Washington) to lead his own rebellion, his goal being nothing less than the fall of Rome.
Gladiator II It also stars Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger and will release on November 22.
Time Bandits
The idea of Taika Waititi Time Bandits It looks like it will have the same fantastical pseudo-realism as the Terry Gilliam film on which it’s based, but there will be a few changes to the formula – the biggest change being that the Time Bandits will no longer be played by little people.
Otherwise, the story is basically the same: a young boy finds himself on an adventure across time with a gang of time-jumping thieves. Lisa Kudrow, Rune Temte, Kal-El Tuck, Tadgh Murphy, Kiera Thompson and many more star in the Apple TV Plus series, which premieres July 24.
Agatha All Along
In WandaVision By-product Agatha All Along, Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) helps Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) escape a delusion that made her believe she was a detective trying to solve a mysterious murder. Yet she discovers that the magical powers she once possessed could end up destroying her. WandaVision They’re gone, and he needs to form a gang to get them back. Agatha All Along It will begin streaming on Disney+ from September 18.
Separation
Separation Season two is finally coming. It’s been over two years cliffhanger ending The premiere of the first season of the quirky sci-fi office thriller. Now, the new season is set to premiere on Apple TV Plus on January 17. If you haven’t seen the show, don’t worry: The teaser released by Apple earlier this week shows the characters of Mark (Adam Scott), Haley (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Irving (John Turturro), but nothing is revealed about it.
