Unpacking developer introduces Captain Toad-like musical puzzle game Tempo

Singing roses, chirping willows, trumpet-playing daffodils. From rearranging furniture to creating musical gardens, here’s a first look at Tempo – the next project from Australian indie developer Witch Beam, the studio behind the brilliant Unpacking.

It’s a melodic puzzle game in which you assemble a garden of musical flowers across 60 whimsical floating 3D levels that look a lot like Nintendo’s own Captain Toad.

Tempo is set to launch later this year for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S (yes, curiously there’s no mention of a PlayStation release just yet).

“Find the correct configuration using your wits or trial and error to solve puzzles with inventive solutions involving multiple Tempo playing different roles,” Witch Beam’s game description reads. “Once back in Hana’s garden, the flowers perform a unique musical performance for players to enjoy.”
