Valve trademarks Deadlock, the hero shooter whose existence is still not confirmed

While Valve has filed a trademark application for Deadlock, the company still won’t confirm the hero shooter’s existence.

As seen Gabe Followers (Thank you, PC Gamer, Valve’s trademark application Approval is pending, but the developer has applied for trademark protection for the word Deadlock in the categories of “provision of entertainment services, namely, video games; provision of online entertainment, namely, online computer games; game services provided via the Internet.” It was filed on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Of course, filing a trademark is just that, and it in no way is evidence that Valve has a game of that name in development, or even proves that a game in mid-production will ever be released.

However, aside from the leaks that have been circulating over the last few weeks, it’s hard to imagine this is another “Neon Prime,” a separate Valve trademark never revealed to exist. Details of the deadlock surfaced on the Internet last week Images posted on social media and a report from Valve’s long-term reporter Tyler McVicker claimed Deadlock was currently in closed testing. Shortly after, Gameplay footage also leakedShowing off Deadlock’s training mode, more hero characters, and the existence of BioShock Infinite-style Skyrails that you can ride on.

As Tom told us when the leak went viral, the game’s science-fiction setting looks different from any Valve game setting to date – so no, this isn’t a new Half-Life spin-off. Hopefully – The Summer Sports Festival is just around the corner – We’ll have more information about that soon.
