If you’re concerned about how your medications may affect your ability to tolerate heat, Dr. Judith recommends consulting with your doctor to better understand your individual risk. “Talk to your doctor about overheating as a symptom of your medications, especially when the doctor prescribes multiple or new medications, so you can learn about drug-drug interactions that may increase the likelihood of overheating.”
“If you have other medical conditions such as seizures, low blood pressure or heart arrhythmia, discuss this with your doctor as there may be drug-drug interactions between your psychiatric medications and your medical medications. Additionally, your pre-existing health conditions may make you more sensitive to excessive heat.”
